COMACCHIO'S NEW GEO 700 GT ENJOYS SUCCESS AT GEOTHERM IN OFFENBURG

01/03/2015

Comacchio played a leading role at the recent GeoTHERM show in Offenburg. The event is considered to be the leading European event for geothermal energy. Its opening ceremony saw Comacchio’s endorsed nomination for the European Geothermal Innovation Award 2015, an initiative from the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) in collaboration with Messe Offenburg.

The jury of five nominated Comacchio as one of the most innovative companies in the geothermal field over the past twenty years and, in particular, for the technological contribution made to the industry by the GEO 909 GT with its innovative rod and casing carousel. In confirmation of the continued commitment of Comacchio to the development of this industry, the show saw the debut of a new Comacchio drill rig model dedicated to geothermal drilling: the GEO 700 GT HT Line. Thanks to its compact size and to the high performance offered by the new generation Caterpillar engine providing 129 kW power (Stage IIIB / Tier 4 Interim), this rig is the optimal solution for the installation of geothermal loops on medium size residential and commercial sites.

The versatility with which it has been conceived allows the new GEO 700 GT to be used in any ground conditions up to a depth of 150 m, with the use of various drilling techniques. The machine can in fact be used both for drilling with air circulation and foam injection, and for drilling with different mud circulation techniques (low pressure and high flow for soft soils or high pressure and low flow for hard ground). The GEO 700 GT features a high-performance double head system, which consists of a lower rotary head providing 2400 daNm torque and an upper rotary head with 760 daNm torque; it also includes a preventer for cuttings discharge and an hydraulic chuck that considerably speeds up the recovering of rod and casings. The tilting mechanism that equips the double head system is designed to make the loading / unloading of the rods and casings faster and easier.

The drill rig can be equipped with a crane that can lift up to 4000 kg at 2 m distance, thus allowing for an easy handling of rods/casings on site, offering great advantages in terms of productivity and safety. The machine can be supplied with a variety of options and with safety guards and protective devices in compliance with the new European Safety Standard EN 16228.
