eGEO 405

The eGEO 405 is the first fully electric Comacchio drilling rig designed specifically for geotechnical, soil investigation, and environmental drilling applications.

It represents a major step forward in drilling technology, moving beyond conventional electric solutions based on mains-powered systems to a fully battery-powered architecture. The rig is powered by an integrated lithium-ion battery system with a modular 78 kWh capacity, designed for fast swapping to ensure a continuous drilling cycle with minimal downtime. The exchangeable “power box” can be replaced in just a few minutes, allowing uninterrupted operation even in demanding site conditions. Batteries can be recharged on site or externally, and an on-board charger also enables charging during drilling when grid power is available. All main functions, rotary head, pumps, and winches, are driven by high-efficiency electric motors controlled via inverter and CANBUS technology. This ensures precise control of torque, speed, and energy use, delivering high drilling performance with maximum efficiency. Like all the other models in the Comacchio GEO range, the eGEO 405 is a true multipurpose rig, capable of rotary drilling, auger drilling, conventional and wire-line coring, and DTH applications. Compared to conventional rigs, the eGEO 405 offers zero local emissions, significantly reduced noise, lower maintenance requirements, and improved operational precision, making it an ideal solution for sustainable and high-performance drilling operations.
